The untimely passing of youth leader Timothy Yeamulle on 11 February after being diagnosed with cancer in the second week of January, has been greeted with shock by his family and friends.

Yeamulle was well-known in the community and touched the lives of many youths and adults within a short space of time. “As the sun was setting on Sunday afternoon, 11 February, the Lord called upon a wonderful angelic super soul, our grandson, Timothy Yeamulle to rise into his house in heaven. It is a day, his parents (Clinton and Sharon Yeamulle) and our family will never forget for the rest of our lives. He has left behind a huge legacy of greatness and huge shoes to fill at just 16-years-old. As a child, in his teenage years, while others may be engaging in other worldly activities, partying and prioritising other aspects of life, Timothy chose his studies, balancing his life between having clean fun with his friends and committing himself to his church work at the Angelus Mission Church in Mt Edgecombe, led by the powerful Pastor Rocky Naidoo,” said Democratic Liberal Congress (DLC) leader, Councillor Patrick Pillay.

He described Yeamulle as a respectful person. “Timothy always respected his parents and family, earning him the respect of everyone who knew him. He was a gallant young lad who played the guitar like a maestro and touched the hearts of people with his melodious voice that always echoed love. He was a very talented person and a prayer warrior. His vibrant voice captivated people around him. At church, Timothy was very much involved with the youths and praise and worship. He was a brilliant young leader who exposed superb leadership qualities and always actioned his word of serving humanity. Timothy was also exposed to humanitarian work with myself and the DLC from a very young age. He was involved in community activism and campaigned for the party during elections.”

Yeamulle attended Phoenix Secondary School and excelled in his studies. “This year, he was looking forward to his glorious matric year with his school colleagues and friends, with a positive attitude so that he can pursue a successful career. Unfortunately for our family, God had other plans for our child. We are very proud of Phoenix Secondary School for hosting a memorial in recognition of his achievements as a scholar. He was a reconciler and epitomised love in everything he did, serving humanity with great distinction. The things he did during his childhood, many have yet to achieve in adulthood. He was a gifted angel to our family, the church and humanity. A selfless individual whom will go to great lengths to bring happiness and joy into the hearts of many,” said Cllr Pillay.

“Our grandson had a humble personality and appreciated the simplest of things in life. He never demanded material things but was always grateful for everything God had provided him. He was truly a great saint in our society and will always prioritise the needy. His parents, our family, the church and our community will miss him dearly. He has taught us many lessons in life. We will always celebrate his legacy and promote his teachings of love to everyone. Rest in peace Timothy, you have walked the walk and talked the talk. Your greatness and angelic soul will always inspire us in everything we do. I am indeed honoured to have had you as our grandson in our lives. I know that you will be looking down upon us, guiding our family and everyone you knew, in everything we do,” added Cllr Pillay.
