A tow truck driver was seriously injured after he was allegedly stabbed multiple times during a dispute at Victoria Business Park in Glen Anil on Wednesday afternoon. KZN VIP Response Units and KZN VIP Medical & Rescue were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1.30pm following reports of a stabbing.
On arrival, paramedics found the driver with multiple stab wounds to his back and head injuries sustained during the assault. He received advanced medical treatment at the scene before being transported by KZN VIP Medical & Rescue to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital for further medical care.
It is alleged that the incident stemmed from a motor vehicle collision that occurred earlier in the Umhlanga area. According to reports, the vehicle owner had agreed to have the damaged vehicle towed to a panel shop in Glen Anil. Upon arrival a dispute allegedly broke out between the two drivers. KZN VIP spokesperson, Gareth Naidoo said, “As the tow truck driver was preparing to return the vehicle to the original accident scene, the vehicle owner allegedly approached him from behind and stabbed him five times before further assaulting him with a jack stand.”
“Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) responded to the scene and arrested the suspect. Police have opened an attempted murder case, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” added Naidoo.
