After 446 days of hard work, commitment and ongoing construction to re-instate your favourite community Shopping Centre we are pleased to announce that we are ready to welcome you back home.
The events leading to the July 2021 civil unrest were unforeseen and sadly impacted the livelihoods of our tenants, staff and other surrounding businesses. As the property managers and owners of The Ridge@Shallcross, we at Oasis rose above these obstacles, keeping in mind that our community depended on us for their shopping requirements and essential services.
During the reinstatement period we received numerous calls and messages conveying support and constant encouragement, which was truly heartwarming. We appreciate every single shopper who reached out to us during this time and thank you for your support, messages of inspiration and ongoing loyalty to the mall and all its tenants.
Our objective through the reinstatement of the Centre is to re-open with a brand new facility, providing our shoppers with an enhanced shopping experience. The Oasis Crescent Property Team together with SVA Architects worked hand in hand to deliver a sophisticated and modernized shopping centre for the benefit of our tenants and all their customers. The cosmetic upgrade to the mall features enhanced facades to the North and South entrances, satin and matte paint finishes throughout, exquisite tiling and a significant upgrade done to customer restrooms, prayer facilities, seating, navigational signage and so much more.
From our tenant perspective, McDonalds and KFC traded during the construction process, however both these Drive Thrus recently upgraded to offer the latest format of their branded stores.
Also significant in upgrades, is the offering by our anchor tenant, Checkers Hyper. Customers will be treated to the latest Fresh X version amongst Checkers stores nationwide. Through this revamp the Checkers team put together a fantastic, state-of-the-art shopping experience spanning over 7500sqm to ensure a unique shopper experience is now available to the Shallcross and Chatsworth Communities.
Nazeem Ebrahim, Director of the Oasis Crescent Property Fund said, “ the Checkers at The Ridge is ranked as one of the most well-managed retail outlets in South Africa. We interact with a number of high profile tenants across properties owned by our Group and without doubt, Ahmed Badat (Checkers Store Manager) and Mumsy Ganesan (Checkers Regional Manager) have been exemplary when it comes to the management of this Store. It is an outstanding store and this newly revamped facility is really going to set the standard for not only Checkers but retailers nationwide”.
New store formats have also been introduced for the Pepkor stores, which include Pep, Ackermans and Sleepmasters. These stores offer exceptional layouts and also enhance the overall shopper experience. Clicks and China Hyper will also be returning to the Center, which they consider as integral in order to reach and serve their customers requirements and needs.
Our customers continued engagement with us over the reconstruction period also directed us towards bringing forward an offering that includes more of South Africa’s popular national retailers. We listened carefully to your requests, approached the relevant brands and we are delighted to confirm brand new offerings to the Ridge.
New stores joining The Ridge@Shallcross family during the Phase 1 reopening are: Mr Price, Rage Shoes and a Standard Bank walk- in Centre.
Over Phase 2, new stores that will join us include, Power Fashion, Ideals, Victory Lab and Mamta Boutique.
It does not stop there, we are also excited to reveal that the mall was able to attract two national Foschini Group brands, Renegade Fashion Outlet (RFO) and Sneaker Factory that will be opening in early 2023.
We are grateful to all our existing tenants who have been with us since the mall opened its doors to the community and we are excited to welcome our new tenants as they join our Centre and expand the offering to all our shoppers.
The process of reconstruction also allowed us to rebrand parts of our Centre so that it not only aligns to our offering but most importantly it becomes a Centre that our customers can identify with. Our commitment towards offering “Value, Convenience & Variety” is now our key value proposition and which we endeavor to uphold at all times.
To all our Shoppers and the greater community, we personally invite you to join us and some of our Amazing Tenants for our Phase 1 re-opening on 27 October 2022. There are some fantastic specials on offer and a bumper opening planned by each store to take advantage of, whilst experiencing our newly revamped facility. We can’t wait to welcome you back home.
