As a gesture of gratitude to everyone who assisted in keeping the community safe during the July unrest, Devland Impuphu Wholesalers presented team leaders with a framed certificate of thanks and a grocery voucher from the store. The brief ceremony, which took place on 12 August in front of the store, was welcomed by the team leaders who proudly displayed their certificates.
Imran Kika, of Devland Impuphu Wholesalers, said: “On behalf of the community of Newcastle, businesses and civilians, Devland Impuphu Wholesalers would like to extend their gratitude to community heroes for braving the cold weather in the face of the impending danger that threatened the fabric of the town. The gratitude that we show today can and will never do justice to the heroes of Newcastle. May God keep you, your families and the community and country at large forever safe and always united in the face of those who strive to destroy our beloved Newcastle.” Captain Imraan Ghaffoor, one of the team leaders expressed his thanks. “I would like to thank the community of Newcastle, who stood together with law enforcement and local security companies during this difficult time. As well as Devland Impuphu who took the time to give their thanks and appreciation to those who assisted,” said Captain Ghaffoor, who added that it was good to see a community come together.
