Two suspects, aged 19 and 32, were arrested for being in illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in a multi-disciplinary operation held by Taylors Halt SAPS. The suspects were positively linked to the murder of 24-year-old Nkanyiso Zondi, who was fatally shot by unknown suspects while at his homestead in the Mgwagwa area on 20 August.
The team proceeded to the Mgwagwa area on Thursday afternoon, 26 August, where a search was conducted at a homestead. Upon searching the house, police found a shotgun, rifle, pistol, revolver and an air rifle. Police also seized 212 rounds of ammunition. The suspects will appear in front of the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on related charges.
