Newlands-based 4thLaine is a registered non-profit-organisation, founded by sisters whose purpose it is to eradicate hunger and provide educational and empowerment programmes in the community.

Cheyenne Sky, the director, said as an organisation they hope to assist children, teenagers, elders, families, and even animals, often neglected by the general community.

“We have always tried to help where we could, even when we were much younger. Unfortunately, due to financial restraints, it became something that we could no longer do on our own. We are sisters and we decided since we are almost finished with our degrees that we would officially register our organisation and decided that 2024 would be the best year to start.”

Sky said that as sisters they each have different qualities to offer their organisation making it work well for them. “I have a degree in education and bring the educational aspect to it. I can offer tutoring, educational programmes and provide learning materials for the youth.

“My sister, Arizona Rain is pursuing law ensuring that we can keep compliant and up to date with all legal matters, policies, and changes. She can educate the beneficiaries. My second sister, Dakota Storm, is pursuing public relations, and with her background she can market as well as represent us, and foster relationships comfortably with people from various backgrounds,” she said.

Sky said that they have so far been able to donate some food for a feeding scheme in one of the primary schools in Newlands and have gifted 10 elders with food parcels.

“In the next month, we intend on visiting an old age home as well as a children’s home. We are currently trying to set up a spot where we offer an hour of free tutoring a few times a week. We are also looking forward to November as we will be getting assistance from the by Santa’s Shoebox initiative.

“We look forward to growing and making a positive impact in our community, no matter how small each step forward is and possibly growing ourselves so we can reach other areas,” said Sky.

Sky said they are appealing to sponsors and donors to help them make a difference. To donate or for more info email info@4thlaine.co.za.
