Shoppers at Westville SUPERSPAR got more than groceries on Wednesday morning when Hollywoodbets Sharks players swapped the rugby field for the supermarket aisles in a fast-paced charity trolley dash. In just two minutes each, the players filled their trolleys to support two organisations close to the KZN community; The Robin Hood Foundation and the Gozololo Centre for Children.

Siya Masuku and Vincent Koch kicked things off, piling their trolley high with toiletries and food items to help vulnerable mothers, babies and elderly people. Aphelele Fassi and Bradley Davids followed, grabbing essentials, and a few festive treats for Gozololo’s centres in KwaMashu, Umgababa and Bhambayi, which care for orphaned and vulnerable children.

A trolley full of happiness. Fassi said giving back was at the heart of The Sharks’ mission: “KZN has shown us so much love. Today was our turn to return it.” SPAR KZN’s Sydney Dubazane echoed the sentiment, thanking the players for bringing energy and heart to a meaningful cause.

At the handover, SPAR and TOPS at SPAR matched the dash with generous donations of R28,683 for The Robin Hood Foundation and R26,000 for Gozololo. The contributions will go a long way: roughly 400 Christmas goodie bags will be made for families in need.

With smiles all round and trolleys overflowing, the Sharks and SPAR team wrapped up a feel-good morning that brought festive cheer to two deserving community organisations.
