A Shallcross father and his 10-month-old baby have been left in shock and traumatised following the death of his wife who died in an accident, last week.

Ronica Bukum, 41 of Harinagar Road was killed on the M7, before the Saint John’s Robots on the morning of 10 April while she was on her way to work.  At the start of the heavy rains, Ronica was on her way to her workplace at Builders Express in Hillcrest where she was employed as a Nursery Specialist. The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this stage as she was alone in the vehicle. Her husband, Kevin Bukum said that his wife was an amazing person who would put the needs of others before her own.  “Ronica was full of life and energy, living life with excitement and love. She loved her family and her husband. Our child was her world. She was passionate about reading her bible and praying with her family. She was passionate about plants and people.

Everyone would admire the plants that she grew. She was giving and whenever she heard of someone in need, her heart went out to them. She would go the extra mile to ensure she could assist. She had a heart of gold and compassion. We have been married for two and a half years. She dreamt big, worked hard, loved unconditionally and walked with humility. She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her,” he said.  Ronica excelled at her work and had won the SANA (South African Nursery Association) awards several years in a row. She was laid to rest at the Clairwood Cemetery on 14 April.  Bukum said that they are searching for answers and closure regarding his wife’s accident. The family is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call 084-476-1952.
