Newcastle Crime Intelligence together with members of Osizweni Crime Prevention, Hyron Booysen, Crime Fighter Task Team, Anti Hijacking Unit, RESSEC Security and Magenta Security acted on information received regarding a house robbery syndicate, on 25 May.
The teams, working in unison, managed to arrest two suspects and recovered stolen goods including police uniforms. “Upon questioning, the suspects denied any involvement and could not give an account as to why they were in possession of the stolen goods, they were then detained at the Newcastle Police Station and further investigation brought to light that these two suspects were linked to a house robbery which took place in Amajuba Park,” said Captain Imraan. According to the investigation, three suspects gained entry into the home in the early hours of the morning and held up the family with firearms and knives. “The family members were also assaulted. They then got away with cash, jewelry and other valuables. One of the suspects that we arrested has also been linked to a house robbery and rape in Barry Hertzog Park. As a crime fighter team, we take our jobs seriously and we send a strong message to criminals that you will be punished for crimes against innocent people. Our aim is to continue keeping Newcastle safe,” said Captain Imraan.
