Chad Selby and Rebecca Major, students from Reddam House, were recently acknowledged and congratulated by the Domino Foundation for their selfless acts of giving back and serving their community.
During the aQuellé Tour Durban last year, the duo volunteered their time to serve and hydrate cyclists, providing them with water and words of encouragement. The Domino Foundation’s Karen Brokensha and Thembeka Gumede praised the duo for their kindness and generosity. Brokensha said that the heart to give was very apparent at Reddam. She said, “We at Domino have often been on the receiving end of that generosity. We were particularly touched when 16 volunteers lent willing hands to help our Disaster Relief Unit sort, pack and load supplies to go out to affected communities by the floods of 2022.”

Gumede added, “We wanted to congratulate them for being great ambassadors for volunteerism at Domino.” She encouraged the learners to continue being part of the Domino’s volunteer programme, saying that their contributions make a significant difference.
The school’s motto, “We Shall Give Back,” emphasises the importance of community service, with each learner required to complete at least 15 hours of community service annually. Gumede and Brokensha noted that the duo embodied this spirit and are already set to serve at the water tables again during the aQuellé Tour Durban 2025.
