The Durban Metro Police Tracing Team, together with the SAPS Provincial Counterfeit, Contraband and Illicit Goods Unit (KZN) and RSA Brand Protectors, conducted a targeted search and seizure operation in Durban Central on Saturday morning, leading to the confiscation of over R1 million worth of counterfeit branded items.
Durban Metro Police spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu said: “The operation resulted in the recovery of 781 Springbok-branded clothing items, including caps, hats, scarves, T-shirts, beanies and earmuffs, with an estimated value of R1,100,000.

“The operation was carried out under the provisions of the Counterfeit Goods Act, ensuring the removal of illicit merchandise from circulation and protecting the integrity of legitimate brands.”
Zungu commended all units and members involved “for their dedication and commitment to safeguarding our city.”
