Tournament winners, Hotshots Pool Academy Premier League
The Hotshots Pool Academy Premier League (HSPA) proved they are the stronger team when they took top honours at the recent Hotshots Blackball Challenge Invitational.
The challenge formed part of a team building and networking exercise for the Premier League at HSPA and the Social League at their sister club, Hotshots. The academy held home advantage in the first leg while Hotshots held the second leg at their venue. After 90 frames, scores were tied. Both leagues then decided to hold a decider match at HSPA. The Premier League soon snaked out a major lead, finishing the first and second sessions with major wins. The Social League players then got together, strategised and soon started to close in. However, the Premier League players were too strong and the final scores were 21-24. Owner of the Hotshots brand, Johnny Nair, said: “Well done to both teams. It was a nail-biting three rounds.” Nair said that their purpose was achieved. “We saw networking and social interaction (albeit at a distance) and this is what we aimed for.
Healthy competition between leagues is always a good thing.” Social League team captain, Neil Pillay, said: “We are proud of our team’s performance and we hope to hold another invitational challenge soon. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Well done to the Premier League.” While team captain for the Premier League and marketing executive for the Academy, Romita Hanuman-Pillay, said: “These types of initiatives can only improve one’s game and gives us all a chance to get to know each other. The Social League team was a formidable opponent and we enjoyed every moment. We are very happy that we won, though!”
