A Parlock resident, accompanied by his Pitbull, went in search of his missing puppy and instead made the gruesome discovery of a decomposed and burnt body in a bushy area, in the local vicinity, this morning, Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
Fidelity ADT Specialised Response Unit (SRU) was alerted to the scene and spokesperson, Chanel Hattingh, said: “During the search, the Pitbull tracked and led its owner to the discovery of a severely decomposed and burnt human remains.
Upon assessment, it was confirmed that the remains are skeletal and bear evidence of having been heavily burnt.”
“Based on the advanced state of decomposition, it is estimated that the remains have been at the location since at least late June 2026 or earlier.”
According to Hattingh, the Fidelity ADT officers secured the immediate area to protect the scene from contamination.
“Contact was established with local authorities and SAPS are currently on scene. Investigations are ongoing,” Hattingh added.
