In response to the growing plague of drug addiction affecting the Chatsworth community, two devoted men of faith are stepping in to bring hope, healing, and transformation to those in need.

Evangelist Jonathan Botes from the Western Cape will join forces with Pastor Stanton Govindsamy of Pinetown for a three-day spiritual crusade in Chatsworth. Their mission is not only to spread the gospel but also to extend a hand of practical support to individuals battling addiction and emotional hardship.

Botes, the founder of Flame of the Holy Spirit Ministry and Save Our People Feeding Organisation, is based in Cape Town and has spent the past five years working with young people struggling with drug addiction. His organisation also runs school programmes, supports victims of gender-based violence, and provides food and counselling services to the vulnerable.

“We’re trying to save the next generation. Too many of our youth are being lost to drugs and broken homes. We want them to know that help is available, and they are not alone,” Botes said.

Locally, Pastor Stanton Govindsamy leads Redeemed Recovery, a life-recovery support organisation situated in the heart of Chatsworth. His programme offers a holistic path to recovery for individuals facing addiction, trauma, codependency, mental health issues, and other life challenges. With a strong emphasis on healing and personal growth, Redeemed Recovery has become a beacon of hope for many in the community.

As part of their upcoming three-day crusade, the pastors are calling on the community to assist in any way possible, through donations of food items, cash contributions, or by volunteering to cook meals for the second day of the event.

“We cannot do this alone. This is a community effort. Together, we can bring real change to Chatsworth,” Govindsamy said.
The three-day crusade will be held at Astra Primary School in Croftdene on Friday, 20 June at 6.30pm, Saturday, 21 June at 5pm and Sunday, 22 June at 5pm.
