A female passenger was airlifted to a specialist facility following a high-speed, high-impact motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Sometsu Road and Stalwart Simelane Street, in Stamford Hill, on Sunday night.
Emer-G-Med paramedics spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen said paramedics arrived on the scene just after 6pm to find the female lying on the roadway having suffered serious injuries. “She was treated and stabilised on-scene by advanced life support paramedics, before being airlifted to a nearby hospital where a team of specialist physicians awaited her arrival,” he said.
He added that three others, two females and a male, all aged between 30 and 40 years old, sustained moderate injuries and were treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken by ambulance to various nearby hospitals for further care. The cause of the collision is unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
