Newlands East police crackdown on drug trade

A weekend operation led by Newlands East SAPS vispol commander, Lt Col Hamiel resulted in an arrest of a 64-year-old Newlands West man for dealing in drugs.

Drugs worth the street value of R2 500 and money were recovered from the arrested suspect who had been out on bail for another drug- dealing charge. In another operation, Newlands East police recovered drugs worth the street value of R8 100 and arrested a 20-year-old suspect. The arrested suspects appeared in the Newlands West Court. Sector commander of Newlands East SAPS, W/O L Lutchmiparsad said: “The 64-year-old suspect had been out on bail for another drug charge. He is known for drug-dealing in the community and had been arrested numerous times. We will be doing more operations to root out drug trade in the community.”
