Silindokuhle Community Based Organisation (CBO) celebrated the graduation of 30 of its volunteers from Liberty Life’s Scientology Volunteer Ministers programme during a ceremony held on Saturday, 24 January, at the Methodist Church of Southern Africa Hall.

Speaking at the event, Silindokuhle CBO Communications Manager, Sakhile Tabede, said the programme is a humanitarian initiative aimed at equipping individuals with practical skills and knowledge to support and uplift their communities.

“The programme focuses on training in areas such as disaster response, drug abuse prevention, illiteracy eradication, study skills, communication skills, conflict resolution and emotional support,” said Tabede.

He explained that the programme is based on the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, and was established to provide a structured framework that enables individuals to assist others using Hubbard’s principles and methods.

Tabede added that the inclusion of graduates from the programme is expected to significantly strengthen the organisation’s community impact by fostering trust and building stronger relationships within the communities they serve.

One of the graduates, volunteer Nomusa Dube, described the graduation as an empowering and life-changing experience. She said the programme equipped her with practical skills that will allow her to make a meaningful difference in her community.

“One of the most important skills I learned is the value of truly listening to others and understanding their perspectives,” Dube said. “It may sound simple, but it is a game-changer when it comes to building connections and helping people effectively.”
