Paramedics attended to a number of accidents over the weekend in the upper highway area. Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics and Medical Services spokesperson said that on Thursday, 22 April, paramedics were called to a serious two-vehicle accident which resulted with multiple injuries on Richmond Road and Westmead Road in Pinetown.
Jamieson said: “There were no fatalities, however the injured patients were stabilised on-scene and were taken to nearby hospitals for further medical care that they needed.” In another incident on Sunday, 25 April, paramedics were called to an accident scene on the M13 West-Bound before the Pioneer Road off-ramp in Kloof. A single vehicle veered off the road resulting in serious injuries. Jamieson said the road was closed off and was later opened.
