Revolution Motorcycle Club and the Nelson Mandela Community Youth Centre has kicked-off its annual Mandela Day Brown Paper Campaign this week.
As Mandela Day approaches, both organisations are gearing up to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in the community through their annual Brown Paper Campaign.
This heartfelt initiative encourages local organisations, businesses, and families to come together and fill brown paper bags with essential items for children in need.
Clive Pillay from Revolution Motorcycle Club explains how it works: “Brown paper bags are distributed to businesses, organisations and families, who are then asked to fill the bags with 10 or more items such as stationery, toys, books, and other essentials that can bring joy and support to a child’s education and development. The bags are also decorated with Mandela images, quotes and pretty designs. Once filled, the bags are dropped off at the youth centre, where the bike club will host a huge party for deserving children and hand out the bags.
“This campaign is not only about collecting items but also about spreading kindness, compassion, and the spirit of giving that Nelson Mandela embodied. By contributing to this initiative, individuals and organisations can make a tangible difference in the lives of poor children. Let’s come together to make this Mandela Day one to remember. Let’s fill those bags with love, care, and generosity, and watch the impact ripple through our community.”
To get involved, you can collect brown paper bags from the youth centre and fill them with your chosen items.
