Man found dead in alleged drive-by shooting in Montford

A man was shot and killed in an alleged drive-by shooting in the Montford area during the early hours of Friday morning.

According to Amawele Emergency Services, paramedics were dispatched to Road 751 shortly after 05:00 following reports of a shooting.

On arrival, medics found a Toyota Quantum parked on the pavement against a tree. The driver, an Indian man believed to be in his 40s, was found slumped over in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, the man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

South African Police Service (SAPS) officers cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The scene remained active as detectives and forensic teams gathered evidence.

No arrests had been reported at the time of publication, and the motive for the shooting has not yet been established.
