Scores of people who were affected by the recent devastating floods will now be better off following the donation of medical equipment, blankets and various other items worth more than R1 million from Sikelela Medical and Dental Suppliers (Pty) Ltd.
KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane, received the donation on behalf of KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala from Dr Mzizana, who is the owner of Sikelela, a leading medical and dental equipment distributor in South Africa. In addition to the medical equipment, she also donated R100 000 to assist flood victims throughout the province. The equipment donated are Multifunction Patient Monitoring Infinium Omni III, Easy Resuscitation AVI Healthcare, Fetal and Maternal Monitor Med Gyn and a theatre table just to name a few.
The donation also included bottled water, sanitisers, surgical masks and gloves as well as laptops and some furniture items. MEC Simelane said that she was very appreciative of the gesture. “We would like to appreciate Dr Mzizana and her team for raising her in assisting the devastated province of KZN. The fact that you even included blankets and sanitary towels shows that you clearly understand the needs of the vulnerable people of our province,” said MEC Simelane.
Dr Mzizana said that she was pleased at the opportunity to make a contribution to improve the lives of those who were affected by the recent flooding. “Our medical supplier groups of companies under Sikelela Medical Suppliers decided to assist with the little that is possible where it can,” said Dr Mzizana. The donated medical equipment and material will be further distributed to KZN health facilities in order to assist patients.
