Tashleen Kasipershad, cousin of the deceased and family spokesperson, said: “It has been nearly four months since Vyaksha’s brutal murder and Vyaksha’s family is having a very difficult time dealing with the loss. We are maintaining our faith in the justice system. All we want is justice for Vyaksha. No life should be taken in the way hers was.”

Isha Pillay, a Chatsworth resident who has been following the case, said: “It is extremely sad that four months after Vyaksha’s gruesome death, her murderer is yet to be sentenced for his sin. The case being adjourned on account of gathering more evidence seems ridiculous, he did the crime so he must do the time.

“While he may be remanded in custody, he has not yet been able to face the full might of the law. Killing her in the soulless manner that he did just goes to show that he deserves no mercy. The court of the community seem to be more passionately angered about her murder than the judicial system itself. Vyaksha’s family should not have to witness a drawn-out court battle to get justice for their loved one.”
