Motivated by kindness and a desire to make a difference, Berea’s Taaliah Bera is preparing to represent Scouting South Africa and the University of KwaZulu-Natal at the 14th University Scholars Leadership Symposium 2026. Organised by Humanitarian Affairs Asia (HAA), the symposium will take place at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, from 4 to 7 August.

Following her selection, a jubilant Bera said: “I am deeply honoured to have been selected as a delegate. I am thrilled to join a global community of changemakers dedicated to creating a better world. This transformative platform offers a rare opportunity to engage with inspiring speakers, participate in impactful initiatives such as Kindness Day, and collaborate with peers from around the globe—all within the historic setting of the United Nations. Together, we will advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), working toward the #2030Agenda for a more equitable and sustainable future.
