Upper Highway non-profit organisation, The Ladybird Foundation has recently made a generous donation of food items and clothing to KZN Valley Dogs, an NPO for rural community dogs.
The Ladybird Foundation which caters for animal rights, the aged special needs foundation, child disability and safety for women and children was approached by KZN Valley Dogs to respond to the plight of thermal communities they are serving in the Valley of the 1000 Hills.
Chairperson of The Ladybird Foundation, Bridget Young said that she is grateful to her Operational Manager, Michelle Stainer for the tireless work she does in obtaining sponsorship and donation of goods that go the parcels distributed by KZN Valley Dogs.
“We have been involved in many outreach programs in the Upper Highway rural communities, supporting various orphanages, school children and the elderly. Our association with KZN Valley Dogs began at the end of 2018 when they appealed for toys for Christmas. We continued our support with their appeals for baby items, clothes and food hampers for families in dire need. During lockdown we sent food parcels to many needy households. This grew to support their Easter egg collection and at the end of 2021 we provided Christmas gifts to many child headed, and gogo (grandmother) headed families some receiving gifts for the first time. We have an enormous respect and appreciation for the work, time and dedication KZN Valley Dogs do in their support for the families, and their feeding programs of the valley dogs in our communities,” said Young.
Young added that this will not stop here as they will continue to respond to the call whenever they can to ensure that KZN Valley Dogs continues to support the communities in need.
“We will continue our association as long as we are able. We watch their Facebook page closely to see where we can assist, and Carolyn of KZN Valley Dogs knows we are only a call away when a family is in need,” added Young.
KZN Valley Dogs team member, Carolyn Pierrot said she is grateful to the The Ladybird Foundation as their Sunday feeding went well and there were no problems.
“Our relationship with Michelle and Tash and The Ladybird Foundation goes back a few years now to when they so generously assisted us with toys and other goodies for the valley community. Over the years they have helped us with food parcels, clothing, baby items, Christmas presents and Easter Eggs. Last week I messaged Michelle asking her if she could help me with some Gogo parcels for some very needy elderly folk and once again she rose to the occasion. We at Kzn Valley Dogs are extremely blessed to have The Ladybird Foundation help us whenever we need them,” said Pierrot.
