Owner of Amawele Emergency Services and friend of the deceased’s family, Claude Sumbramodey said that Human Rights Day was indeed a sad day for the community of Chatsworth and everyone who knew the family that was brutally killed in the shooting.

“The victims were always there to help community members in a time of need. They were humble, loving and kind individuals. It is a great loss for our family and friends. Brandon had a heart of gold and would offer his last cent to help someone in need. He was a rolemodel to me and my business and would always contact me to assist patients free of charge. He was someone we could count on.
Their nine-year-old daughter also did not deserve to die this way, as she had her whole life ahead of her. We will not leave any stone unturned. The perpetrators must be brought to book and dealt with accordingly. Rest in peace our king, queen and princess. We love and miss you,” Subramodey said.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: The motive of the killing is unknown at this stage, although preliminary investigations suggest that the man who was shot was allegedly involved in drug and gang-related activities in Chatsworth and was a person of interest on some cases which are being investigated by the Hawks. Suspects are unknown and a search for them is underway.”

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said at approximately 2:30pm on Tuesday Emer-G-Med paramedics together with Netcare911 responded to the scene of a shooting incident on Peters Road in Springfield Park.

“Upon arrival on scene, a Volkswagen Amarok was found to have been sprayed with high calibre bullet holes.
Two occupants in the front of the vehicle, an adult male and female were declared dead on arrival of paramedics.
A nine year old female who was seated in the back of the vehicle was found in a critical condition.
