The care being delivered by the staff of Khanya Hospice to their patients in the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal has been boosted by the donation of three wheelchairs from the Rotary Club of Reservoir Hills.
Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald, in collaboration with Rotarian, Charlie Panday, said: “We can never have enough wheelchairs.”
McDonald was grateful as he said: “Charlie has been instrumental for getting donations of medical equipment from abroad to be distributed amongst NGOs, rotary clubs and the needy.”
Khanya Hospice offers free palliative nursing care to terminally-ill people who need it and to provide support for their families. “We have been donating many wheelchairs to our patients and when they no longer have any use for it, they return it to the hospice and we recycle all the time,” added McDonald.
Additionally, Khanya was in for another surprise when they were contacted to visit The Range and Bushy Tail in Pennington. A Monster Market which will be hosted by Pennington Pre-Primary School on 30 October at The Range will share some of their proceeds which will be donated to Khanya Hospice for the outstanding community work that they do in the area.
McDonald was overwhelmed with the support and compassion he received from Dean Spooner from The Range golf range and Mark Holing who is the owner of Bushy tail. He said: “Both men are great community supporters and encourage everyone to join in the fun as there will be live music, stalls, raffles, dress-up competitions and much more. Pennington is going to be rocking…wonderful.”
