Picketers marching to the City Hall

Motorists driving down Dr Pixley KaSeme, (West Street) had to hold their brakes for approximately 45mins on Friday, 20 August to allow Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), KwaZulu-Natal members to march and chant along the street as they made their way to Durban City Hall.

The peaceful march and motorcade by the union members was to address demands over the ever rising costs of living.

The members held placards which read; “Down with the ever rising fuel increases” ; “Down with the ever rising cost of living”; “Down with unreasonable food hikes” and “Forward to improved conditions of workers.”

There was a high presence of the SAPS monitoring the picket from where it started on King Dingizulu down to Durban City hall.
