A controversial businessman and former drug dealer was arrested on Tuesday and is expected to appear in a Durban court today, Wednesday, 12 August, on alleged human trafficking charges.
According to reports, the businessman is currently in custody. He has previously made headlines in connection with alleged drug-related activities in Durban and KwaZulu-Natal.
Further reports state that the businessman was reportedly caught on tape advising the former police minister on matters relating to politics and alleged drug operations in Durban and KwaZulu-Natal, a few years ago. More recently, his name was also mentioned during the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee.
The circumstances surrounding Tuesday’s arrest remain the subject of investigation. The operation was conducted by a team of officers, led by the Hawks in KZN. The businessman is expected to appear in court where the charges against him are expected to be formally addressed.
