South Africa has a new international queen. Sixteen-year-old Chrizmie Mostert from Newcastle was crowned Teen Model World 2026 on 14 June in Bogotá, Colombia, becoming one of the first South Africans to win a Miss Teen Universe international title.

The Curro Online School student represented South Africa against delegates from around the world at the Gatsby Dominicana-hosted Mini Model World competition. Her standout moment came on the runway when she was selected as showstopper for a renowned designer and closed the show alongside her.

“Walking that final runway for a world-renowned designer and ending the show with her was unreal,” Chrizmie said after her win. “I’m so proud to have carried South Africa with me every step.”

Chrizmie’s journey began in March 2025 when she was crowned Miss Teen Universe South Africa 2025. During her reign, she also won the Photogenic Title in the Junior Category at the Federation of Performing Arts South Africa, competing against eight countries. She currently serves as the official perfume ambassador for Miss Teen Universe South Africa.

Preparation for Bogotá saw her collaborate with designers in South Africa and abroad. Her looks included creations by DHL Dollhouse Emporium Rentals in Johannesburg, Rico Studios in Sandton, Newcastle’s Bellinda Frackers, FBI Wear from Nigeria, and a finals gown created through a collaboration with Vietnam’s Louiz (@louiztran.design).

Behind her success is a strong support team. Her mother travelled with her to Colombia, while Warren Wade Photography documented her journey from finalist to queen. Makeup Maze’s Tasmiya ensured she was camera-ready throughout. Miss Teen Universe South Africa also honoured her with the Green MTUSA Honourary Blazer for leadership and dedication.

“Watching her grow and represent South Africa with such grace and determination has been truly inspiring,” said Miss Teen Universe South Africa National Director Ntombi Gumede. “She has made history, and we celebrate this milestone with her and her family.”
The new title opens major doors. Chrizmie is set to walk at New York Fashion Week, Orlando Fashion Kids, Colombia Fashion Kids and Punta Cana Fashion Kids, showcasing South African talent on some of fashion’s biggest stages.

For a teen from Newcastle, the crown carries more than glamour. “Chrizmie’s victory shows young South Africans that dedication and discipline can turn dreams into reality,” Gumede added. As she begins her reign, she carries not just a title, but the pride of a nation.
