To promote a healthy early childhood experience, Westville-based shopping centre, the Pavilion Shopping Centre visited two local Early Childhood Development Centres and invested R103 000 in Cator Manor.
The donation was made possible through partnership with the Training & Resources in Early Education (TREE), a non-profit organisation that specialises in Early Childhood Development, resource and training where they recognised TREE’s vision to train and capacitate the early childhood development workforce enabling them to promote quality holistic early childhood development.
The centres; Okwethu Education Centre and Siceluthando Educare Centre welcomed this donation which includes outdoor play gym items; swings, jungle gym, slides, merry go rounds, blankets, nappies and educational games.
The Pavilion Shopping Centre’s Marketing Manager, Julie-Anne Zuma said that this is part of their campaigns; #PavsCares and #Supportlocal aimed at reaching out to their local community.
“We recognise that if we can make it easier for these two Centres to give the children the best early learning experiences, knowing that this will go a long way to further better their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development”. In one of his speeches, Mandela said that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This is what we believe in as well, what better way to celebrate Nelson Mandela Month than to shine the light on the legacy of a man who changed the 20th century and helped shaped the 21st,” said Zuma.
TREE’s Senior Training Coordinator, Cleopatra Cele said that she is thankful to the donors who reached out in making sure that the little lives are prioritised.
“I was so moved and extremely grateful beyond words to the donors, I honestly think that this was the perfect way to celebrate and recognise what Mandela Month is all about. It was heart-warming to see children interacting with the educational items they received from The Pavilion,” said Cele.
