A 31-year-old woman delivered a healthy 3.3 kg baby girl on the side of the road on Ireland Street in Verulam on Tuesday morning.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesperson, Prem Balram said, “Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and on arrival found the woman on the pavement surrounded by bystanders. A lady assisted the mother with the delivery of the baby girl.” Balram said the mother, who is from Amaoti, said she began experiencing abdominal pains on Monday night. “On Tuesday morning she was on her way to hospital when she went into labour and delivered her fourth child. The woman and her daughter were taken to hospital by ambulance.”
