The body of a man in an advanced state of decomposition was found in a storm drain along the Higginson Highway westbound, before the Arena Park off-ramp, on Monday evening.
Amawele Emergency Services said medics were dispatched shortly after 4pm after a bystander discovered the body.
On arrival, paramedics found the body of an Indian man approximately two metres below ground level inside the storm drain.
“The male showed no signs of life and was found to be in an advanced state of decomposition,” the emergency service said.
Chatsworth SAPS, the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), Search and Rescue, TJ Chatsworth Fire and Blue Tactical responded to the scene and worked to retrieve the body from the storm drain.
The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain unknown.
Chatsworth SAPS has been approached for comment regarding the identity of the deceased, the circumstances surrounding the discovery and whether an inquest docket has been opened.
This is a developing story.
