The Bayview Community Policing Forum (BCPF) together with the Youth Desk (YD) and SAPS Bayview held a successful family fun day, incorporating a celebratory car show and shine on Sunday, 25 June.
The event, made possible by the generous sponsorship of Pro Secure, Hotel Savera and Sunrise FM, Jayson’s Gas, Designa Cars, Uzobona Engineering and Fabrication and Moorton Crossmoor Dental Surgery, saw the co-ordinators, Gas Addicts Events host 200 show cars with a sound-off, a host of tantalising food vendors, a flea market full of bargains, a fun-filled kids zone, an informative expo incorporating various eThekwini Municipality departments and enthralling entertainment performances.
Chairperson of the BCPF YD, Vedhan Singh, said that the inaugural event brought together the community in socially-cohesive, socio-philanthropic way that had not been seen before.
“Co-ordinating and executing such an event of this magnitude was certainly not child’s play. When all the components came together, the family fun day was nothing short of fantastic. We have been receiving congratulations and words of well-wishes and gratitude from the community, civics and CPFs, security providers and many other community leaders and government officials.
“I want to place on record my thanks to our sponsors, contributors and well-wishers, particularly the deputy chairperson of the BCPF YD, Kiren Govender, and the event coordinator from Gas Addicts Events, Prabhu Naidoo; both of whom went over and above the call of duty. This event would also not have been possible without the support of towering intergenerational thought leaders of our time, Brandon Pillay of the BCPF, Dhilosen Pillay of Hotel Savera and Dr Renee Govender of Moorton Crossmoor Dental Surgery,” he said.
Showering words of praise on behalf of the BCPF, Brandon Pillay, who also graced the event with a special address as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly, said: “Let me be the first to take this opportunity to congratulate our youth. In particular, a word of appreciation and congratulations to Vedhan Singh and Kiren Govender. Your event has been phenomenally extraordinary and most successful. Keep up the amazing work, we are so proud of you.”
