Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School recently held a special assembly to celebrate Mothers Day. Pupils showered their mothers with gifts and hugs, thanking them for their dedication and nurturing.
Grade 3 pupil Hannah Botha said that Mother’s Day is a day to share love with her mom and shower her with gifts. She added that she’s good at planning and sometimes matches her youthful energy. “It’s also a day where we visit my grandparents, my aunt, and my uncle, and show them love too.”

Principal Chantal Lourens shared a biblical verse, 2 Timothy 1:5, which says: “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and now lives in you also.” Lourens explained that this verse highlights the power of a mother’s influence, shaping not only her children’s physical well-being but also their hearts, values, and spiritual foundations.
Lourens added: “Mother’s Day provides an opportunity for us to pause and reflect on the significant role each of our mothers has played in our lives and to be reminded to say thank you for their consistent giving. It is a joy and a gift to be able to celebrate this day with each other.”
The management and staff of Tabloid Newspapers wish all mothers a happy Mother’s Day filled with beautiful memories, love, laughter, and appreciation.
