With only three weeks left until Mother’s Day, the community is invited to take part in the Run For Mum inaugural run on Sunday, 9 May. This run is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate their mom by walking or running a route and distance of your choice, in a place of your choice, in celebration of Mother’s Day. Entries are open for entrants to register until Thursday 29 April.
Leon Swanepoel, CEO of Sportsvendo who are the organisers, said: “Everyone can share in the fun with all mothers being the VIP of the day. We are absolutely blown away by the amount of interest we receive from the community and it confirms two facts – that mom’s are loved beyond measure and that everyone missed a real, intimate event during the Covid-19 pandemic.” He said that ‘Run for Mom’ is the brainchild of Sportsvendo, a company well-known for the iconic Colour Run Series. “We are encouraging teams of families from all over South Africa to run and walk to honour and applaud their moms. Every team that registers also receives an entry package that includes; medals and a banner. The gold medal is for the mom and the silver medals are for all the other participants. As a family and team, participants can decide on the start and finish venue, decide on a family member’s residence, the distance, the route and the award ceremony arrangements. “Mom receives a personalised certificate that will be e-mailed to the family captain, with a special collector’s gold medal and a designer t-shirt. In addition to the entry pack, a WhatsApp message will be sent to mom on the morning of the event as well as a virtual bunch of flowers to her e-mail address. “Do not let this opportunity pass to show how much you care for your mom.
