Tickets for the eleventh edition of the Muslimah Today conference taking place on Sunday 18 August from 9am to 4.45pm at the NMJ Islamic Centre, Morningside, are selling fast.
“There is a lot of interest in the participation of our former minister of international relations, Dr Naledi Pandor who will be reflecting on 30 years of democracy in South Africa,” said Fatima Asmal, founder and co-director of ILM-SA that hosts Muslimah Today under the banner of its ILM for Women division.
The conference will feature Amina Khatree Jamal (My Journey as a Widow), Cape Town’s Maulana Zakariyya Harnekar (Divine femininity: insights from the Qur’an) and Shaykh Ismail Kamdar (Keys to Happiness from the Qur’an and Sunnah).
Three women who reverted to Islam, Julie Mcminnie, Nimerah Mohamed and Saleemah Mbandlwa will share their reversion stories and other aspects related to it. Female Qur’anic scholar, Ustaadhah Kareema Jassiem will open proceedings with a recitation from the Qur’an that she will translate and explain.
