Martha Wehmeyer of Diamana Road was overcome with joy and gratitude when the Al Ansaar Foundation (Durban) in partnership with the Al-Imdaad Foundation and Operation Sukuma Sakhe donated a wheelchair to the elderly resident recently.

Over 50 food hampers, blankets, walking sticks and a wheelchair were handed  to community members along Diamana Road. Al Ansaar Foundation (Durban) in partnership with the Al-Imdaad Foundation and Operation Sukuma Sakhe worked late to ensure much-needed relief was brought to the community.”With the current circumstances, things have been incredibly challenging for the community of Diamana Road,” said  Community activist, Durandt Solomon, who has been working closely with the Al-Imdaad Foundation for a couple of years. Solomon said that most of the family households along Diamana Road continuously struggle for survival. “Today, the community told me that they don’t have to worry about their meals because it has been provided,” added Solomon, who told The Ladysmith Herald that it is heart-breaking to watch the Diamana Road community suffer on a daily basis, but he has faith in people like Al-Imdaad Foundation Projects coordinator, Abed Karrim.

Al Ansaar Foundation (Durban) in partnership with Al-Imdaad Foundation and Operation Sukuma Sakhe distributed the hampers and handed over a wheelchair to Martha Wehmeyer, who has been battling for the last few years and said that she is so grateful for the extra movement since she always depended on someone to help her get around which was sometimes extremely difficult. “We are here to tell you that we are here to help. In uncertain times like these, a little given really goes a long way,” said Karrim. Wehmeyer.
