As the holiday season unfolds, an inspiring event brought joy, laughter, and inclusivity to children and their families in the Phoenix community. Amazing Autistic Avengers (AAA), an organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering children with autism, hosted a heartwarming Christmas party for children with autism, marking a special occasion that ushered in the festive season with an abundance of holiday spirit.
The event, held at the Phoenix Victory Centre over the weekend, was a resounding success, leaving smiles on the faces of children, parents, and volunteers. Amazing Autistic Avengers pulled out all the stops to bring festive cheer, with sparkling decorations, a giant Christmas tree, and gifts galore for over a hundred kids.
Speaking to the Phoenix Tabloid, founder of Amazing Autistic Avengers, Sandy Miah, said, “It was a triple celebration as our Christmas party also incorporated our four-year anniversary celebration and my daughter’s birthday, Esther Nair, whom the organisation was established for.”
Miah highlighted that the holiday season can be a challenging time for many families with children on the autism spectrum. “Today was a wonderful opportunity for them to experience the joy and warmth of Christmas. We ensured that every detail of the event was carefully planned to accommodate the diverse needs of the children we serve.”
The event featured a variety of activities designed to bring out the joy and creativity in every child. Families, friends, and volunteers connected over the shared experience of supporting children with autism, a beautiful reminder that the holiday season is about community, acceptance, and making memories together.
Miah expressed gratitude to the volunteers, donors, and families who contributed to the event’s success, including Shoprite, Bluff Meat, Jolly’s Meat, Soni’s biscuits, and several individuals. She also acknowledged the speakers, Dr. Shereen Harripersad, Jayanthi Ramnath, Pastor Melene Pillay, and parents Allan Holmes, Fleurette Callaghan, and Zoe Beech.
Thanks to Amazing Autistic Avengers, the Christmas spirit was alive and well, and the holiday season was off to a perfect start for the amazing children and their families.
