“It was a dream come true to see so many familiar faces and rekindle lifelong friendships,” said the event mastermind, Kausalee Naidoo.
Over 1,000 alumnae from Durban Indian Girls High School (DIGHS), now Durban Girls Secondary School (DGSS), gathered for a spectacular reunion on Saturday, 9 November, at the Sastri Convention Centre in Durban.
Alumnae travelled from across the globe to reconnect with classmates from the 1950-1999 cohorts. Naidoo from the Class of 1974, marked the 50th Golden Jubilee of the school and exceeded all expectations. The reunion’s overwhelming success was a testament to Naidoo’s vision, along with the dedicated efforts of Co-Chair, Kogila Cooper and the entire Steering Committee.
The day was filled with high spirits as attendees revived cherished memories and rekindled friendships. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter, tears of joy, heartfelt hugs, and numerous epic moments of reunion between long-lost friends.
The event featured a captivating slideshow presentation, live dance and musical performances, exciting prize draws, and raffles, with prizes including stylish sunglasses, a luxurious week-long holiday in Mozambique (valued at R70,000), indulgent spa vouchers, and premium home appliances. The guest speaker was Dr. Chandra Shahs, who gave an inspiring speech.
Each alumna was presented with a customised goodie bag featuring the school monogram, filled with pamper products, gift vouchers, and thoughtful gifts.
