The theme ‘Caring for the carer’ tugged at the heartstrings of police officers at Chatsworth SAPS station when they were pampered at a special celebration of women.
Captain Cheryl Pillay, communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS said that it was a fulfilling day of womanhood
She said: “On 10 August, stakeholders came together to celebrate the commitment of women from law enforcement who daily strap on their boots to make a difference in the lives of society. Shantal Bechoo from the Chatsworth Anti-Drug Forum together with Vipul Patel of Arena Park BP spearheaded this event in partnership with M Protection Security Services, the Chatsworth Centre Mall, PC Intelligence and Camford Academy.”
The leading lady, Brigadier Ruth De Villiers was acknowledged for embracing her calling as a police officer for the past 36 years.
Mrs Naidoo of the Chatsworth Academy expressed her gratitude to women who always give off their best to the community and their families.
Naidoo said: “It was such a pleasure to have been asked to pamper the women that make such a huge difference in the lives of the Chatsworth community. We, as women, give so much of ourselves to everyone around us and sometimes we need to be pampered so that we can continue to do the things that are required of us for others around us. Happy Women’s Month to all the amazing women out .You are truly an inspiration to us all.”
Chantal Bechoo of the Anti-Drug Forum said that it is no easy task working as police officers.
“Daily police officers leave home to serve and protect people that are unknown to them, leaving behind their families who never know if they would return. Yet daily, you embrace your uniform amidst all else and place your lives in danger those are phenomenal people in my eyes. This is small token of appreciation for your selfless patriotic acts of kindness,” she said.
Chatsworth police thanked all stakeholders for acknowledging women in the policing environment.
“We remain committed at our work-stations to ensure that people in Chatsworth are kept safe,” said Pillay.
