Members of the community can help recognise the efforts of outstanding volunteers by nominating individuals who are deserving of the coveted Phoenix Women of The Year Award.

The organising committee for the prestigious awards, Phoenix Network Forum, is making their last call for nominations of phenomenal women in the Phoenix, Mount Moriah and Mount Royal areas who have served selflessly and worked tirelessly towards community upliftment and development within their communities.

If you know of a woman in your community who goes beyond the call of duty to assist the community, demonstrates genuine care towards others, has done outstanding community work, selflessly volunteers her time to community upliftment programmes and empowers members of the community to become self-sustaining by providing skills training – you are encouraged to nominate her before the cut off date for all nominations on Friday, 19 August.

The organisers said: “Anyone that has any political affiliations or an relationship with the Phoenix Network Forum, a participant who has previously won the title of Women of The Year as well EPWP members cannot be nominated for this award. The nomination forms must include a comprehensive and current curriculum vitae of the person being nominated. The motivation of the nominator and the nominees achievements, list of exceptional milestones reached in her career and description of the dedicated services rendered in the community. A photo of the nominee must be attached on the form. All nomination forms are to be picked up and delivered at the Durban and Coastal Mental Health, 59 Clayfield Drive, contact Sinenhlanhla Sibisi on 031 502 3622 or the Phoenix Child Welfare offices, 10 Featherstone Place, Whetstone, contact Saras Perumal on 031 500 3671.”
