The Kloof and Highway SPCA recently held a fun filled event to raise funds for their upcoming two-day sterilisation campaign which will be held on 13 and 14 July at their Outreach Clinic.

At the event, the animal shelter was joined by Roberta Allesandri Models for a fashion extravaganza. There was delicious food and drinks from The Curry Lady, sweet treats and some interactive dancing with Kevin Ellis. The funds raised on the day will go towards the sterilisation campaign which is aimed at preventing animal cruelty as well as controlling unnecessary litter.

Kloof and Highway SPCA Marketing Manager, Brigitte Ferguson said that in light of the recent lost opportunities, they decided to take the initiate to say thank you to the community that supports them by holding the two-day outreach.

“At the outreach, we will be sterilising and treating the many animals that need our help. The exciting news is that the outreach will be held at our property so that anyone from the public who would like to see exactly what it entails is welcome to come along and get an insight into the wonderful work that an outreach is. Think of Max the gorgeous and handsome Africanus who loved chilling with his mates, he heard the other day that Bella his lady of the week was expecting her fourth litter with him. Now Max is nostalgically thinking his carefree days are gone as soon as Bella demands more of his time. Bella on the other hand had a whole weekend planned of chilling at the river with her girlfriends. She is so tired of puppies as every litter becomes more and more demanding and her body is getting so tired. A few of her girlfriends have managed to be sterilised and cannot stop raving about their new look and lifestyle,” said Ferguson.

Ferguson added that sterilisation helps dogs and cats from experiencing animal cruelty and unwanted litters as some have to scavenge for their food while worried about the puppies.

“When pets scavenge for food, they may lose weight and often pick up contagious diseases while their immune system is compromised. We cannot help everyone , but everyone can help someone. Be that someone who makes the change for Max and Bella, for only R300 you can sponsor a sterilisation giving them  their lives back,” added Ferguson.
