Shameen Thakur- Rajbansi, Leader of the Minority Front has wished all youth a wonderful and fruitful Youth Day which will be commemorated on Thursday, 16 June.
Rajbansi said that she entered politics in her youth and she has now led the party for almost 11 years since the demise of Mr A. Rajbansi and she has been in Parliament for 22 years.
She said: “If there is one fundamental thing I have learnt in my political career, from Dale Cornegie’s teachings on how to win friends and influence people is, ‘If you want to gather honey, don’t kick over the beehive’. All youth should read widely, especially books which empower human relationships.”
In her youth, Rajbansi’s influence on ordinary people lives, their change in attitude, their ability to make use of lost assets which was hidden deep within their soul and especially their mind was remarkable.
“I am amazed every time I meet people, young and old who remind me of one of my speeches they listened to and how just a phrase that opened up their mind to change their life path. To me these are truly important stories, the impact of human words on another’s mind”, she said.
She had also started her community pharmacy practice in the 1990’s in her youth and served the community for 20 years.
Rajbansi said: “Usually, just appreciation for people is enough to be the 1% inspiration and people accomplish what their 99% perspiration was driving. I thank all my seniors who had faith in me and mentored me.”
Rajbansi requested the youth to have their happiness be the end goal of all their endeavours.
“Stand firm on values and compromise on petty things, use hard arguments but soft words so be firm but polite. Do not do to others what you would not want others to do to you and have a vision and see the potential. Believe in a win-win situation and work as part of a team. Have no ego or pride and never lose temper, thereby make others comfortable. Admit mistakes and take corrective measures as nothing is difficult and impossible to achieve, one can make anything happen,” she said.
Rajbansi also advised the youth to make commitments and have a positive attitude as well as the will to succeed, to see the gain and not pain, to never leave any task unfinished and finally, know the techniques of time and stress management. “The important thing for youth to focus on is their own life needs balance if they really want to influence people in any situation, hence the golden rule remains practising good conduct,” she said.
