Richard and Rachel Uys, of the Ray of Hope Baby Home in Glen Hills, have been joined in marital bliss for nearly 32 years and couldn’t be happier.
Richard said that there is not just one thing that made him fall head over heels in love with Rachel as everything about her made his heart race. The couple, who have dedicated their lives to loving children in need, said there is more to Valentine’s Day than spending it with just your partner, they said it’s a special day where you can go overboard in showing your loved ones how much they mean to you. Married for over three decades, the Uys couple said they share fond memories of their time together. “Our anniversary is on the 21st of July. Only people in love can get married in the middle of the month! We’ve had some very strange anniversaries,” said Rachel. The couple’s advice for a happy marriage is to always put friendship first. “Love is friendship on fire,” said Rachel.
