A gruesome discovery was made on the morning of 6 August, after community members found the body of an unknown man on the premises of a local garage along Murchison Street.
Witnesses told The Ladysmith Herald that they had struggled to get the emergency officials out to the scene as the man was still alive. “I asked him if he was okay and he responded by lifting up his head, we had been calling the ambulance since,” said the witnesses, who had found the man. Ladysmith Police were also called to the scene. Following the arrival of the police and ambulance services, the man was then declared deceased on-scene by police. Police will be opening an inquest and will be able to determine a cause of death after a post-mortem is conducted.
