Over 109 units were recovered by SAPS on Wednesday, 28 July, as operations continued in the recovery of ‘looted’ items taken during the civil unrest and from the Pieters Industrial area at the Defy factory. Police have been working on information received and were in the KwaMantandie area. Several fridges, freezers and washing machines were collected by the police. Police could be seen recovering up to three units from one room.
The SAPS urged members of the public to report criminality to the police, which may be done anonymously by calling the crime stop number 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app that can be downloaded onto any smartphone.
