Twelve injured in taxi collision

Twelve people were injured in an accident involving a taxi and a light vehicle between North Coast Road and Affingham Road on Saturday.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, medicals arrived on the scene to find total carnage. “A taxi had collided with a light vehicle before overturning multiple times and ejecting some of its passengers before coming to rest on its roof. Multiple people were found entrapped in the taxi as well as lying on the roadway and immediately more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to the scene. “Twelve people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious were stabilised on the scene by Paramedics before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further treatment that they required,” he said. Jamieson added that the exact events leading up to the accident are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
