Nine members from the Durban Public Order Policing Unit (POP) were given certificates of appreciation for their hard work and dedication in making arrests in the Cato Manor policing area.
The certificates were handed over to the members by Cato Manor SAPS station commander, Colonel W.B Luthuli at the station on Thursday, 15 April. The POP unit, in partnership with the eThekwini Intelligence Unit, has been working on intelligence-driven operations in securing arrests for cases such as murder, business robberies and recovering of unlicensed firearms, amongst others. The station’s communications officer Captain C.A Sibiya applauded the members for their efforts in eradicating criminal activities in the community. “We are rooting out all unlicensed firearms in the community as they are used in criminal activities. The members have been doing amazing work in fighting crime,” said Capt Sibiya. Col Luthuli thanked the members for their work to ensure that criminals are behind bars and for recovering unlicensed firearms used in criminal activities.
