With winter on our doorstep, it seemed prevalent to share some warmth and care for the community in the greater Durban area. On Tuesday 6 April, the Ahmed Al Kadi Private Hospital donated a whopping 1260 items of linen to the Islamic IMA Malukazi Clinic, a project of the Islamic Medical Association Baytul Nur Trust.
Ebrahim Asmal, hospital manager, said: “We wanted our donation to benefit a community directly and thought of the IMA clinics, which are perfectly positioned in rural communities, have built concrete relationships with these communities and therefore would be best suited to roll out these donations to those in need.” Asmal said with the IMA Baytul Nur Trust being the initial developer of the beautiful facility, this donation just made sense. “We have a relationship and it has always been a vision to give back to the community and this is exactly what has been done,” continued Asmal.
Marketing Manager, Suraiya Vaizie accompanied members of the AAK Technical Team; Razack Rajabu, Pradeep and Sr Farida from the IMA Clinics Division in Malukazi to hand over the items. Stalwart of the Islamic Medical Association of South Africa and Coordinator of the IMA Clinics, Sister Honey Allee, was ecstatic. She said: “This is a phenomenal gesture of kindness, generosity and compassion. I have a few gogos and other members of the community who will assist me with sorting the linen, and helping us create items like pyjamas and bed linen to share with everyone. They will be so pleased. Thank you to the AAK for this wonderful gift of warmth and care,” she said. “The AAK celebrates its 4th birthday this month. What better way to celebrate than to spread some kindness, care and give back,” concluded Vaizie.
