16-Year-Old Boy Found Deceased in Outbuilding in Phoenix as Circumstances Under Investigation

A 16-year-old boy was found deceased at an outbuilding on a residential property in Esselen Crescent, Phoenix, on Wednesday, 3 June.

According to information provided at the scene, the teenager was discovered by his mother, who raised the alarm after noticing someone inside the outbuilding while carrying out household duties. With assistance, the door was forced open, and the teenager was found unresponsive.

Private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), paramedics, and officers attended the scene at approximately 11:15 am.

Family members reportedly informed responding officers that the teenager was a Grade 10 learner at Crystal Point Secondary School and had recently faced disciplinary action relating to vaping. It is alleged that he briefly returned to school thereafter but had become withdrawn and reluctant to continue attending classes.

The family further stated that he had left home at approximately 3 pm on Tuesday appearing distressed and did not return.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
